Description

Studies of the structure and properties of injection-molded products of thermoplastic polyester-based elastomers (TPC) were done in terms of anisotropic characteristics in the thickness direction. Tensile tests and structural measurements were carried out using dumbbell specimens that were stamped from the sliced specimens of the products. The tensile modulus increases with increase of hard segment PBT concentration and the tensile moduli of inner layers are larger than those of surface layers of products. This might be related to the microstructures represented by crystallinity and crystal forms of PBT. The viscoelastic measurements revealed that the primary dispersion of soft segments appeared at around -50°C. The dispersion peak temperature for the surface layers was slightly higher than that for inner layers in relation to the molecular orientation of soft segment caused by the shear stress on the mold surface.
