Description
Flash, a molding defect in injection molding, is a serious problem as it reduces production efficiency and damages the mold. This study focused on flash generating at the divided face between the slide cores in a slide core type mold for cylindrical molded products. Strain sensors were attached to several parts of the mold, and the Relationship between flash generation and mold deformation was investigated, and the following results were obtained.<br>First, the deformation of the slide core type mold was clarified during the injection molding process. With this mold structure, the slide cores are pushed by high melt pressure towards the mold base at the stationary mold side. This causes the mold base to deform, resulting in the formation of a gap at the divided face between the slide cores, and the generation of flash. It was also confirmed that flash starts to generate under the holding pressure condition at which strain of the mold starts to increase considerably.
