Abstract

The aim of the present study is to investigate reliabilities and validities of the Japanese version of the Communication Patterns Questionnaire (CPQ). Participants were 76 married women and 55 married men. They answered questions regarding their marital satisfaction, their orientation toward divorce, and the CPQ. Results suggested that almost all CPQ scales reached the same levels of reliability as previous studies. The CPQ also had significant relationships with participants' marital dissatisfaction and orientation toward divorce. These results were regarded as empirical evidence concerning the application of the CPQ to Japanese couples.
