Abstract
This study examined the intention to seek professional psychological help among Japanese nurses. The purpose of this study was to develop a new scale of intention to seek professional psychological help (SISPPH) and examine its reliability and validity. Exploratory factor analyses in a sample of 160 nurses revealed a four factor solution, including interpersonal concerns, career concerns, mental health concerns, and consultations. Cronbach's α coefficients ranged from .788 to .914 and test-retest reliability coefficients from .635 to .851. The validity was demonstrated by the relationship between the SISPPH and images of psychological professionals, and the expected costs/benefits of the consulting.
