Description

The purpose of this study is to propose instructional equipment for housing education. In order to learn environmental design methods of dwelling, housing models were designed and built by using building blocks. It was examined whether the housing models could simulate environmental design methods such as thermal insulation, air tightness, sun control, natural ventilation and day lighting. In addition to the examinations, a questionnaire asked students in the faculty of education their understanding of the environmental design methods using the examination results simulated by the housing models. The usability of the housing models was judged by the results of the questionnaire. We obtain the following results: The housing models built by building blocks will be useful to learn the environmental design methods of dwelling such as thermal insulation, air tightness, sun control, natural ventilation and day lighting. The housing models for sun control and day lighting need to be improved in terms of usability.
