Description

In line with the recent trend of growing size of vessels, majority of the shipyards are expanding their building berths. Thus, the proportion of the launching waters are becoming smaller against the measured length of the vessel. As a consequence, it has become a matter of great importance to estimate exactly the launching motion of ships and the position of stop. Furthermore, the increase of launching weight has given rise to problems of the pressure on the launching way and the partial load acting on the vessel. We, authors, have carried out the measurement everytime the vessel launched. In order to thoroughly understand the motion of launching ships, it is necessary to synthetically measure and record multitudinous elements such as travel, acceleration, locus of ship and tensile forces of drag chain wires. Having developed a new method of measuring ship's declivity wherein a gyroscopic oscillometer is used, we will introduce herein below an outline of the synthetic measurement of the launching, centering upon the use of the above oscillometer.
