Description

Graduate schools are rapidly shifting their purposes from education of students who will be future scientists to that of highly talented engineers. In addition, international relations with foreigners have been more and more crucial in every field in Japanese society.<BR>In view of these situations, a curriculum "English for Graduate Students of Engineering" was introduced five years ago in the curriculum of Department of Chemical Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering of Nagoya University. Special attention has been paid in this class to educate students to use English as a tool for international communication with recognition of the cultural background of the English language. The problems to be solved for further advancement of this curriculum in qualitative and quantitative aspects are discussed.
