Usua11y Maruo's method is used for the calculation of added resistance in waves. But the approximation used there to find source strength is very rough and the agreement between the theory and experiments is not necessarily good. The authors tried to apply some improvements to the calculation method and found that if the strength, position and phase of the source are determined by such a way that the progressive wave due to the source coincides with the one calculated by the correct method, then the results of some cases are improved especially in the range of short wave length.
