Description
Approach to high speed gas cutting process has been tried by some researchers from different point of view. In spite of many efforts of those researchers, only a few processes have been developed. To apply this process to NC cutting, the authors performed basic research to a great extent and recently successful result has been obtained. Good cutting surface has been obtained by the high speed cutting when a supersonic curtain-divergent nozzle is kept vertically to cutting plane with high pressure oxygen at 5∼17kg/cm^2. Maximum cutting speed is over 4,000mm/min and is over two times as fast as conventional process. The authors describe the results of their basic studies on this method, and it's outline, although some part of this series of study is still under investigation.
