Description
This paper demonstrates the importance of applying tools of Statistical Quality Control (SQC) to support innovation for quality in products and services. Innovation of product and service implies that drastic change of the performance by changing the existing system completely as constructing new system. Typical misunderstanding on this importance is that application of SQC tools is not effective because the data sets are collected from the existing system while innovation is intending to construct new system. In order to obtain innovation, there is a need to have wide viewpoints including evaluating current performance and existing system by analyzing the fact using SQC tools. This paper discusses typical application of SQC tools for innovation in (i) exploring new product/ service idea, (ii) technology development and design to specifying the new idea, (iii) production of new product / service and (iv) supplying the new product/ service. It is concluded that application of SQC tools create the infrastructure for innovation.
