Description

An unidentified piperidine alkaloid named moranoline (mp 204_??_205°C, C6H13NO4) was isolated from Mori Cortex and intact Morus species. The structure of moranoline was determined as (2 R, 3 R, 4 R, 5 s)-2-hydroxymethyl-3, 4, 5-trihydroxypiperidine on the basis of its spectral data.
