Description

Oligosaccharides in the extracts from the leaf, stem and root of Aloe acutissma were obtained by the boiling 80% ethanol solution. The extracts were investigated by paper chromatography, carbon column chromatography and gas chromatography. The percentage of oligosaccharides (except sucrose) to the amount of sugar eluted from the carbon column chromatography in the leaf, stem and root were 18%, 28%, 41%, respectively. the only sugar component of oligosaccharides (except sucrose) in the leaf was glucose, but a small amount of glucose and a large amount of fructose were present in the stem and roct.
