Experimental studies are carried out on multivariable periodic control of a CSTR in which diethyl adipate saponification takes place as a consecutive-competitive reaction. In case of constant volume, periodic changes in feed rate and coil feed temperature improve the yield of the intermediate product by about 12% relative to that with optimal steady control. Further, an additional periodic change in the inert feed rate improves it by about 15%.In case of variable volume, periodic changes in feed rate, draw off rate and coil feed temperature improve the yield of the intermediate product by about 64%.
