Description

A problem of optimal allocation of sensors is formulated as a problem of minimizing cost required to construct the allocation of sensors which satisfies the requirements of process control and production management and which realizes the required value of probability of success in identification of the faulty sensor. This problem, however, cannot be solved directly since the probability can only be estimated by the Monte Carlo method. A method is presented to solve this problem by estimating the probability of solving the optimal allocation problem described in terms of the detectability, which can easily estimated and increases monotonously as probability increases.
