Abstract

Motions of ball rolling down an inclined plane are a well-known demonstration experiment in physics education. Recently Lattery reported an interesting experiment with sharp ramp [Phys, Educ. 35 (2000) 130] . We observed the motions of ball with two cases having (1) a sharp ramp and (2) a smooth slope. It is demonstrated that these two cases show different behavior.
