Abstract
We developed a liquid crystal filter containing dichroic dyes, which continuously control color temperature of the transmitted light in real time. The filter was designed and fabricated based on Planck radiation law and Lambert-Beer's law, as a result, it exhibited the conversion range of color temperature form 2530K to 4450K, which was equivalent to that of a conventional color glass filter, and response time of 80 ms. It is conrflirmed that the color valance of pickup image could be corrected using a camera with the filter. This filter is especially useful for television location shooting in which illumination light source changes from incandescent lamp to solar light and the color temperature of the illumination varies.
