Description

Telecommunications provideers are projecting broadband services over IP network. This paper describes subjective quality of MPEG-2 bitstream impaired by packet losses over IP networks. The PC-based real-time MPEG-2 over IP system has been made as an experiment. Opinion tests shows that quality degraded by packet losses can be evaluated by number of lost packets, size of each packet, encoding type, and the error concealment method.
