Abstract

The digital terrestrial television broadcasting(DTTB)has been started in U.K.in September 1998, and in U.S.A.in November 1998. In Japan, the telecommunication council has reported the Japanese DTTB system in May 1999, and it will start in metropolitan area in 2003. However the frequency conversion of the analog TV is very serious problem to introduce the DTTB. In this paper, the channel plan of the DTTB based on the report of the DTTB's committee is mentioned. Technical problems on the DTTB such as the degradation by non-liner amplifier, phase noise of local oscillator, single frequency network(SFN), symbol synchronization, and degradation by impulse noise are also described.
