Abstract
In order to improve the response speed of nematic liquid crystal device, numerical calculation is one of the effective way to evaluate the material parameters. In general, the dynamic response of liquid crystal molecule is analyzed by equation of motion in which only rotational viscosity is taken into account. In this research, it is clarified that the conventional analysis using above mentioned equation is not valid and that the equation of motion based on Ericksen-Leslie is effective to discuss response time of various LCDs. Based on it, the possible high speed response properties of OCB-mode is estimated.
