Abstract

In a karyotyping of human chromosomes as a typical analyzing method of the clinical pathology, we diagnose deficiency or abnormal on the basis of the forty six chromosomes arrayed in order. Results of a karyotyping determine for a choice of appropriate medicines treating the leukemia and are used to identify a cause of a congenital abnormality. To detect abnormality in a karyotyping, it is necessary to be well-trained and to have many experience of a karyotyping. Therefore, it takes a long time to train for beginners under hands-on supervision by skilled trainers. We developed a self-training software in which trainees repeatedly tried to be a standard alignment of human chromosome images. Evaluation of performance showed that all beginners greatly improved after 80 repetitions of the training. This indicates this training software is very effective to train beginners for a karyotyping.
