Abstract
Computer simulation was used to investigate improvement of the discharge characteristics of a plasma display panel (PDF). In order to examine the characteristics of sustaining discharge for the AC-type coplanar discharge cell, we were investigated the spatio-temporal evolution of electrons, ions, and excited particles from the writing discharge to the sustaining discharge using three-dimensional (3-D) code. The spatio-temporal density profiles of the electrons, ions and excited particles were calculated by solving continuity equations, energy equation of electrons, and Poisson's equation. The present study should serve as a useful guideline for understanding the margin of the writing voltage and for improving PDP.
