Description

The super multi-view (SMV) display generates viewing zones with an interval smaller than the pupil diameter. Because the ray extent at the pupil is smaller than the pupil diameter, the effective depth of field (DOF) of an eye imaging system increases. In this study, we measured accommodation responses to the recently developed reduced-view SMV display changing the interval of viewing zones in order to evaluate a relationship between the intervals of viewing zones and the DOF. Measured results show that when the interval of viewing zones was 2.6mm, the DOF increased. When the interval of viewing zones was 5.3mm and 7.9mm, the DOF was determined by the pupil diameter.
