Abstract
Mulberry and tussah yarns were dyed with acid, 1:2 metal complex, reactive, direct, basic and disperese dyes before and after degumming. The K/S value, color difference and color fastness of the dyed yarns were examinined. The main results obtained are as follows. The K/S value and excitation purity of the degummed tussah yarns (D. T. Y) were in most cases lower than those of the degummed mulberry yarns (D. M. Y). The fastness to dry and wet rubbing of D. T. Y was generally lower than that of D. M. Y. The amounts of water absorbance and moisture regain in the region of high relative humidity of D. T. Y were smaller than those of D. M. Y, but the moisture regain of D. T. Y was larger than that of D. M. Y in the region of low relative humidity. The degummed tussah yarns seems to be more hydrophilic than D. M. Y.
