Abstract
The spontaneous mutation “skunk” (symbol sku) gives malodor because of isovaleric acid in the feces and dies after spinning without pupation as a result of metabolic error. Linkage analysis showed that the sku gene was linked with the or translucent gene (or) mapped to the 8.9 position of the 22nd linkage group. A three-point experiment involving sku, or and mw was made in order to determine the position of the sku gene. The recombination value between or and sku was 7.04%, sku and mw 9.08% and or and mw 16.12%. Hence the arrangement of these 3 gene loci on the chromosome is in the order of or-sku-mw. Taking a correction factor into account, the locus of sku was determined to be 16.0 of the 22nd linkage group.
