Silk-habutae was finished by a cabamate resin, which was classified into urethane with hydroxyl group, and several kinds of ultraviolet absorbent and the effect of the treatment to prevent yellowing and destruction of silk were examined. The pyridine treatment was slightly effective. The preventive effect of the treatment by a carbamate resin to yellowing increased with the increase of adhesive rate of the resin. Of the three ultraviolet absorbents used, benzophenone group was the most effective, followed by benzotriazole group and phenyl salicylate group. The most effective method was obtained by the adsorption of ultraviolet absorbent, benzophenone or benzotriazole group dissolved in pyridine or ethanol, onto silk finished by a carbamate resin classified into urethane with hydroxyl group. The more preventive effect of ultraviolet absorbent was obtained in the higher adhesive rate of the resin on silk than in the lower rate.
