Description
The standardization of clothing size of the present JIS is looked at again by the MITI. The present paper deals with the difference between the present JIS and the young adult women's body measurements, and reports what the clothing size establishment should be in the future. The subjects of 1634 young women from 18 to 22 years of age are measured. The measured items are stature, bust girth, waist girth, hip girth, posterior sholder point width, crotch height, weight, bust girth/waist girth, hip girth/waist girth, body mass index. The statistical analysis is applied to 10 measurements on the body size, piched out the characteristics of the each items. The results and the comments are as follows: 1) There is a difference of the body measurements between this study and the present JIS. 2) Stature shows the increase of 2 centimeter in the average. 3) The young adult women's proportion switches over to the lower body type. 4) The special regard will be paid to the difference of age. 5) The present JIS needs to be reexamined as soon as possible. Further examination using non-contact 3D measurement is required to be conducted to not only the body size but also the difference of figure.
