説明

The membrane potential of phospholipid thin and liquid membranes constructed in “Millipore” filters was measured in the mixture of potassium and sodium chloride solutions containing various macrocyclic and pseudocyclic polyethers as ionophores. Phosphatidyl choline (PC) and dioleyl phosphate (DOP) were used as phospholipids.<br> The effect of the ionophores on the potassium ion selectivity of the phospholipid membranes was discussed on the basis of results obtained. The permeability ratio (PK/PNa) of the phospholipid thin membranes was less than 2.1 in all cases, and it decreased with increasing concentration of the salts. On the other hand, the permeability ratio of the liquid membranes made up of phospholipid and oleyl alcohol was in the range of 1.4 to 27.3. In this case, the ion selectivity of DOP membranes was higher than that of PC membranes. The selectivity of DOP liquid membranes increased according to the following order of ionophores: dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6>dicyclohexyl-24-crown-8>dibenzo-18-crown-6>8-hydroxyquinoline tetraethylene glycol ether>dibenzo-24-crown-8>18-crown-6>aminopolyether 222 B>aminopolyether 222. This order agreed roughly with that for the other lipid membranes.
