Abstract

80% MeOH extracts, which were obtained from Lamminaria angustata, Undaria pinnatifida and Rhodomela larix, showed inhibitory activity against several species of bacteria, <br> The water soluble fraction had a inhibitory power on the growth of M. aureus and E. coli at the dilution of 1/1, 000 in a liquid medium; on the other hand, the water insoluble fraction was effective on B. subtilis and B. mesentericus.<br> And them, a brom phenolic substance, which was isolated from Symphyocladia gracilis, inhibited the growth of B. mesentericus strongly at the dilution of 1/100, 000 in a liquid medium.
