The distribution and the concentration ratio of BHC isomers in silkworm larvae were studied.
Florisil deactivated by adding 7% distilled water was used for the clean-up method, reducing the volume of solvent and removing the contamination of fat. The recoveries with the overall performance of α-, β-, γ- and δ-BHC fortified to each tissue, fluid and feces were 98_??_110%, 88_??_95%, 94_??_405% and 88_??_104% for 5 ppb, 93_??_107%, 86_??_407%, 88_??_104% and 85_??_98% for 50 ppb, respectively.
20% of total BHC, fed by silkworm larvae, was excreted in feces and 80% was absorbed in the body. Among BHC isomers absorbed in the body, β-BHC was the highest concentration in all tissues. The distribution ratio of total BHC was the highest in fat body which is hydrophobic tissue and the lowest in silk gland, hydrophillic tissue. The concentration ratio, that is, concentration in tissues versus concentration in hemolymph was in the following order on all BHC isomers: fat body>carcass>gut>silk gland.
