Abstract

This paper deals with the human operator's control behavior in the process. It is found that the sectional optimal control policy proposed in this paper can explain the human operator's control behavior. As the trial number is increased, the number of control stages in future which a human operator can consider increases. There is, however, an upper bound in his ability of considering the future state of the process. This result provides a counter example to the general understanding in existing literatures that a human operator optimizes the process over all the control stages.
