This paper analyzes the urbanization in the surrounding areas of highway interchanges using the CBS land-use statistics. Their surrounding area is defined as square area of 2.5 km which surrounds each interchange. Urbanization in a surrounding area is indicated with urbanized land-use in the area, that is, industrial, commercial and recreational use of the land, and the land for public facilities and the service sector. Distance from each interchange to the adjacent builtup area, to the nearest metropolis and adjacent highway junction, traffic volume of the highway, and soil type in the surrounding area are used as the main factors for the analysis. The results are summarized as follows:
1) Adjacent interchanges to builtup areas have a stronger influence on urbanization in the surrounding areas than remote ones.
2) The strength of urbanization effect of the interchange is not related to the distance to the nearest metropolis and to the adjacent highways junction.
3) The other factors, traffic volume and soil types are not related to the strength of urbanization effect, neither.
