Abstract
On a design and analysis method of wind turbine generators, Blade Element Mo-mentum(BEM)theory has been often used even now. BEM theory only requires a small computa-tional load. However, the measurement facilities such as wind tunnel experiments with two-dimensional airfoils are necessary because BEM theory uses two-dimensional airfoil performance. To find the two-dimensional airfoil performance at relatively low cost, calculation using Compu-tational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)is performed. In recent years, CFD analysis associated with de-velopment of computers becomes high speed and high performance. In this study, an analysis method of wind turbine performance using the conventional BEM theory and two-dimensional CFD is described and compared with experimental results. As a result, it was shown that the analysis method predicts the wind turbine performance with the practical accuracy.
