Description

The cross-flow wind turbine has high torque and low speed characteristics and the structure are very simple. However, even if the power coefficient is high, it is about 10%. In this research, the performance of a cross-flow turbine simple substance and the flow state of the circumference of a rotor, and the internal flow were first cleared up for the purpose of the improvement in a performance of a cross-flow wind turbine. Furthermore, in order to raise a power coefficient, cylindrical casing which has a nozzle and diffuser was installed. And the following conclusions were obtained, 1. The flow at inlet or outlet of the cross-flow wind turbine is not suitable for the design point. 2. The Power Coefficient was raised 1.5 or 2.0 (with the obstacle plate) times to adapt to the cylindrical casing. 3. The optimal arrangement of nozzle and diffuser was determined by experimental studies.
