Abstract
The feldspar thermoluminescence (TL) properties were utilized to investigate the sediment movement processes in the Tenryu-Enshunada fluvial system. An appropriate TL measuring sequence was proposed and the natural TL intensity of feldspar grains was measured. Collected surface sediment particles were classified into three groups in terms of TL intensity, i.e., river sediment, coast sediment and dune sediment. Stratified configuration of Nakatajima Coastal Dune was observed with a top dune sand layer, a lower coast sand layer and a mixing layer in between. Acomplex sediment movement pattern in front of the Tenryu River mouth was revealed. Underwater samples present a larger high-temperature TL peak value than the low-temperature peak value; whereas, the two peaks are almosthe same forland samples.
