Description
Trypsin inhibitor was partially purified from the blood of silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) by ammonium sulfate precipitation, Dowex-l×4 and DEAE-cellulose chromatography.
The inhibitor preparation obtained gave a single symmetrical peak with an S20, W of 4.5 S in ultracentrifugal analysis, one μg of the inhibitor inactivated 2.4 μg of trypsin.
The silkworm inhibitor rather resembled Ascaris inhibitor than such as soybean and ovomucoid inhibitor in that it was unstable in an acidic solution.
