Abstract
In recent transmissions, enhanced fuel efficiency considerations call for further weight reduction without sacrificing reliability. This extends to the differential cases used in many transmissions, where lighter designs that ensure the required performance are expected. This paper proposes a method relying on CAE to predict the maximum load torque under which rotational loosening does not occur when accounting for the elastic deformation of the differential case. In addition, this paper identifies the relative sliding of the screw surface and contact surface and presents design guidelines for reducing the weight of the differential case.
