Description
In order to investigate the surging phenomenon that occurs in a turbocharged engine, unsteady pressure distributions at several positions in a compressor of an automobile turbocharger were measured using semiconductor pressure sensors. Furthermore, the reverse flow at the inlet of the compressor was visualized by the tuft method. The experimental data were then compared with the results of numerical simulations of the internal flow at the conditions of lower mass flow rates near the surging range in order to clarify the generation process of the reverse flow.
