抄録

This paper describes development of a forming machine for footmark road signs. The footmark road signs are painted on sidewalk, to prompt children's stopping before crossing the street. We developed the forming machine with the concepts as follows, (1) make footmark road signs easily, i.e. universal design. (2) the power source is manpower, i.e. hydraulic power or electronic power are not adopted. (3) the machine can be stored in a small space and be light weight to allow easy movement. Shear tests of base material sheets gave us the results that 10N/mm is needed to be cut off. Therefore, 6000N is needed to be cut off for footmark road signs because of the perimeter of the footmark are about 600mm. There is a linear relationship between cutting speed and cut off force. The slower the cutting speed, the smaller force is required for cut off of the material sheet. To magnify inputted power, we developed the power magnification unit. The power magnification unit, which is composed of worm gear, can magnify an inputted power by 4.6 times.
