Abstract
Many methods of flow visualization using laser have enabled to observe various phenomena on two-dimensional cross sections. Although these methods capture only a part of three dimensional flow structures, it is difficult to capture global features of flow. Therefore, we have newly developed a 3-D flow visualization system using laser scanner for analyses along flow structure surfaces, with which the internal structure of a conical spray are observed. Sprays are recently finding comprehensive applications in such various fields of manufacturing industry as automobile, aerospace, medicine, and so on.<BR>Images captured by this system could be very informative on three layers of three-dimensional surfaces for conical spreading sprays. We have calculated 3-D velocity maps from these images by the cross-correlation method in order to characterize the global structure of spray with regard to time- and spatial- resolved basis.
