Description

The purpose of the present study is to obtain the fatigue limit diagram (FLD) and S-N diagram (SND) for transverse cracking in fiber reinforced plastic laminates under fatigue loading on the basis of the probabilistic slow crack growth (SCG) model. First, the deterministic and probabilistic FLD and SND were discussed for formulation. Next, the transverse crack density ρ was measured against number of cycles for various stress ratios R at a constant maximum stress to experimentally determine the parameters associated with the probabilistic SCG model. Finally, the FLD and SND were derived from the relationship among, ρ, R and fatigue life using the above parameters.
