Description

[Purpose] To clarify the structural elements of the the functional balance scale (FBS). [Subjects] Fifty-nine hemiplegic cerebrovascular disease patients. [Method] We performed factor analysis of FBS assessment values, and investigated the validity of the classified factors. [Results] FBS was classified into active balance, static balance and gross muscle strength of the lower limbs. For each of the structural elements, we found relationships with physical function, and activity ability. [Conclusion] The results support the conventional utility of FBS, and suggest the possibility of gaining more detailed assessments using the classifications of the present study.<br>
