Abstract

Two processes which are essential to generate ultrashort optical pulses are described. They are 1) producing/providing the broad-band optical spectra and 2) controlling the phase relation between the optical frequency components.<BR>Additionally, typical methods of ultrashort optical pulse generation, i. e. modelocking, electrooptic gates, an optical pulse synthesizer, and…, are summarized.
