Abstract

In this paper are presented two types of printed array antennas fed with a coplanar waveguide. One type uses strips of conductor, and the other uses slots cut in the ground plane, as the radiating elements. One advantage of these constructions is that both the radiating elements and feeding lines can be formed in the same plane on one side of the substrate, thus allowing the use of a reflector plane to enhance gain, or stacking of several such antennas. In order to obtain an optimum design, antenna gains and bandwidth are measured for various design parameters. These include (1) width of inner conductor of the feeding coplanar waveguide, (2) gap width between the feeding line and radiating element, and (3) slot width.
