An ion exchange method for determining metallic constituents in optical glass has been studied.<BR>Using a column of Amberlite IR-120, 100150 mesh, φ1.1×10 cm, H+-saturated, Na, K, Mg, Ca, Ba, Al, Pb, and Zn were completely separated. The ions separated into each effluent were easily determined without any aftertreatment, since only hydrochloric acid, formic acid, ammonium formate, acetic acid, and ammonium acetate were used as the elutriants.<BR>By the recommended procedures showed in Table 2, satisfactory results, were obtained in shorter running periods compared with the usual method.
