Abstract

Calium, cadmium and lead hydroxyapatites (Ca-, Cd- and Pb-HAp) were prepared and their solbility was examined in inorganic and organic acid.
Activity solubility products of the hydroiyapatites were calculated from the concentration of metal cation and phosphorus, and pH in the equilibrium solution, resulting in the pKsp values of 115±0.3, 128±0.7 and 158±0.4 for Ca-, Cd- and Pb-HAp, respectively.
During preparation of the apatites, in the range of pH=3.5-6.5 at 37-60°C, a small amount of Cd-HAp was formed in the Cd5H2 (PO4) 4 (H2O) 4 crystals and as a singe phase in the range of pH=5-9 at 100°C. Pb-HAp was prepared at pH=3-12 and was not influencd by temperature.
Except DL-malic acid, tartaric acid and citric acid: The solubility of Ca-HAp in the normal alkyl mono-, di- and tri-basic acids and oxycarboxylic acids in the pH range 4.0-6.5 can be calculated according to an equation as follws,
l·log[Ca2+]total·[OH-]2/1+KcaA·[An-]+m·log[H+]·[P]total=const.
where, KcaA=Stability constant of respective calcium ion complexes with organic acids[An-]=Concentration of organic acid ion
