エンドサイド（Ｅｎｄｏｃｙｔｅ）による子宮内こう細胞診　　キューレットスタンプ法との比較

Cytologic specimen obtained from the uterine cavity by “Endocyte” (abbrev. End.) and curettage stamp (abbrev. Cur.) were studied in 187 cases. One hundred and two cases (54.5%) were postmenopausal and 121 cases (64.7%) were more than 50 years old.<BR>Result:(1) Clean background were observed in 98 (52.4%) of End. and 101 (54.0%) of Cur. samples.(2) No, small, moderate and large number of endometrial cells were obtained in 6 (3.2%), 78 (41.7%), 78 (41.7%) and 25 (13.4%) of End., and 6 (3.2%), 83 (44.4%), 76 (40.6%) and 22 (11.8%) of Cur. cases respectively.<BR>In 147 cases (78.6%) including 5 samples without endometrial cells similar amount of cells were observed, and in 23 (12.3%) more number and in 17 (9.1%) less number of cells were investigated in End. smear compared with Cur. smear.(3) Nine cases (4.8%) of End. and eight (4.3%) of Cur. samples were inadequate for cell diagnosis. In 116 (62.0%) of End. and 119 (63.6%) of Cur. cases cell diagnosis was possible. Sixtytwo (33.1%) of End. and 60 (32.1%) of Cur. samples were excellent because of adequate number of cells and clean background. Same evaluation for sample quality was done in 156 cases (83.4%), and in 16 cases (8.5%) End. samples were evaluated as better for cell diagnosis and in 15 cases (8.0%) Cur. samples were considered as better.(4) Cytologic diagnosis was done as negative in 153 (86.0%) of End. and 152 (84.9%) of Cur., as suspicious in nine (5.1%) of End. and 11 (6.1%) of Cur., and as positive in 16 (9.0%) of End. and 16 (9.0%) of Cur. samples.(5) There were 17 cases of hyperplastic lesion of the endometrium and 17 cases of endometrial cancer in this series. Twelve negative (70.6%) and five suspicious cases (29.4%) were achieved in former cases and one suspicious and 16 positive cases (94.1%) were investigated in latter ones.<BR>In conclusion both Endocyte and curettage stamp were considered as high quality cell sampling methods of the endometrium based on adequate number of cells and clean back ground. Endocyte method showed the advantage in less painfulness at inserting to the cervical canal and on curettage stamp method tissue sample for histology was obtained at the same time if possible.
