Abstract

In this study, we evaluated the characteristics of traits related to the yield and growth of sesame lines and cultivars. We used "Iwate kuro", "Kikaijima shiro goma", which is grown in Komagane, Nagano Prefecture, and five varieties. From the evaluation test, test lines and cultivars were divided into two types: branched-priority type and main stem-priority type, based on the yield performance and morphological characters, and "Iwate kuro" from Komagane was the intermediate between these two types. In addition, in the "Kikaijima shiro goma", there were separations for the yield performance and morphological traits, suggesting the possibility of selecting and developing new lines by pure-line separation.
