Abstract

Colostrum and raw milk from four sero-positive and two sero-negative cows were examined for whey antibody to bovine leukemia virus (BLV) by agar gel immunodiffusion test. Colostrum whey from sero-positive (1: 2-1: 4) cows showed almost similar reaction irrespective of separation methods, while there were some differences between individuals and days after parturition. Raw milk whey from sero-positive cows showed weak-positive reactions after concentration to 5 to 10% in volume. However no clear positive reaction was seen with whey concentrated to 1 to 2% in volume.
