Abstract

Dogs 5 to 7 years of age weighing 7.5 to 13.8kg fed active egg white product (1g/kg/day) for 1 or 7 days were examined for the activity of peripheral neutrophils and macrophages by chemiluminescence (CL). During 4 days after feeding for 1 day-group, the CL count/neutrophil was 2.5 fold higher than that before feeding, and the CL count/macrophage in 1 day after feeding for 1 day-gorup was observed 5.5 fold higher than that before feeding. After feeding for 7 days, the CL count/neutorphil during 3 to 4 days after feeding was about 3 fold higher than that before feeding. The macrophage activity, however, was slightly reduced 1 to 2 days after feeding, turning high levels at 3 day after the end of feeding.
