Description

In normal delivery cows, bacteria were detectable in 8 of 17 (47.1%) cases from the uterus at about 30 days postpartum. In abnormal delivery cows, however, 104CFU/ml or more bacteria were detected in all 13 (100%) cases for long period. Fourteen species of bacteria were isolated at levels of 103CFU/ml including Actinomyces pyogenes (17 cases, 56.7%), Streptococcus sp. (6 cases, 20.0%), Escherichia coli (5 cases, 16.7%), and Fusobacterium necrophorum (4 cases, 13.3%). After a single irrigation with super oxidized ionization water, no more bacteria were detected in 7 of 11 (63.6%) cases, while no effect was seen in 3 (27.3%) cases.
